Prior to this, she was the first woman to serve as mayor of Mexicali from 2019 to 2021, and represented Baja California's 2nd electoral district in the Chamber of Deputies in the LXIV Legislature. Polling conducted in December 2024 found her to be the most popular politician in the country, with an approval rating of 69.7%.
