After the death of her husband in 1415, Marie retained the title of Lady of La-Guerche when her son, Jean II took the titles of Duke of Alençon and Count of Perche. Marie was the link between the House of Montfort of the duchy of Brittany and the ducal House of Valois-Alençon.
