Dauphine of France (1726-1746)
She was Dauphine of France for barely two years before dying at 20, three days after childbirth — a footnote in the long line of royal women who married for alliance and left almost no trace.
Maria Teresa Antonia Rafaela was born on 11 June 1726, daughter of Spain's King Philip V and Elisabeth Farnese. She married Louis, Dauphin of France — heir to Louis XV and Marie Leczinska — binding the Bourbon courts across the Pyrenees. On 22 July 1746 she died at 20, three days after delivering a daughter. The child survived her by less than two years, dying in 1748.
