Mai Shiraishi was born 20 August 1992 and joined Nogizaka46 as a first-generation member, spending nearly a decade in the idol group's rotating spotlight. While still performing, she modeled exclusively for LARME and Ray, two women's fashion magazines that positioned her outside the typical idol lane. After leaving Nogizaka46, she moved into acting and started a YouTube channel, trading choreographed pop for solo work that still trades on her face. The idol years built the platform; what came after has been the test of whether the attention transfers.
