Biography

About

Magnus Sigurdsson was born around 1115 and became King of Norway in 1130. His reign collapsed in 1135, and somewhere in the struggle that followed he was blinded — earning the epithet that would outlast his crown. He clawed back to the throne in 1137, ruling sightless for two more years until his death on 12 November 1139. The wars he helped ignite did not end with him; Norway burned through claim and counterclaim until 1240.
