Born Lyudmila Aleksandrovna Shkrebneva on 6 January 1958, she trained as a linguist before marrying Vladimir Putin. She served as First Lady from 2000 to 2008 during his first two terms as president, then again from 2012 to 2014 when he returned to the presidency after a prime ministerial interlude. The marriage ended in 2013, and she reverted to her maiden name before later becoming Ocheretnaya. She remains one of the most private figures ever to hold the role.
