When injury ended Beenhakker's amateur playing days at 19, he pivoted to the touchline and never looked back. He claimed the Eredivisie twice with Ajax and once with Feyenoord, a feat no one else has matched across that bitter rivalry. Spain gave him his nickname: as Real Madrid manager in the late 1980s, he delivered three consecutive La Liga titles, one paired with the Copa del Rey.
