He was a co-founder of the Ahmadabad Education Society which later founded Ahmedabad University and the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad. Kasturbhai served as the chairman of the historic and influential Anandji Kalyanji Jain Trust, that manages Shatrunjaya and several other Jain pilgrimage centers, for 50 years.
