Chilean judge (1939–2021)
Juan Salvador Guzmán Tapia was a Chilean judge who lead the investigation and subsequent prosecution of Augusto Pinochet for violations of human rights during his dictatorship between 1973 and 1990. As a special prosecutor, he used novel legal strategies to hold Pinochet and members of his military regime accountable for the killings and human rights violations during this period.
