Son of Rudyard Kipling (1897–1915)
Second Lieutenant John Kipling was a British Army officer. The only son of English author Rudyard Kipling, during World War I, his father used his influence to gain Kipling a commission in the British army despite being rejected for poor eyesight. Kipling's death at the Battle of Loos caused his family immense grief.
