John Curtis Holmes, born Estes on August 8, 1944, built a career in pornographic film that made him both prolific and inescapable, with at least 573 credited appearances and a physique that became his calling card. He created the character Johnny Wadd for a series of related films, a persona that stuck. By July 1981, he was entangled in the Wonderland murders, facing charges for his alleged role in the killings. He died from AIDS-related complications on March 13, 1988.
