English footballer (1914-1975)
Joseph Payne was an England international footballer, best known as the scorer of 10 goals in a match for Luton Town against Bristol Rovers on 13 April 1936. This is still a record in the English Football League. Payne later played for Chelsea and, after missing six years of his career to the Second World War, West Ham United.
