He helped found and subsequently worked as an investigator for the CINEP / Peace Program magazine Noche y Niebla, documenting human rights abuses. One such case he documented was the 1988- 1991 massacres in Trujillo. Due to his work, he recieved threats and was criticized by government officials, including former president Álvaro Uribe.
