Jamshid Giunashvili was a Georgian linguist, Iranologist, researcher, author, and diplomat, having served as the first ambassador of Georgia to Iran for a period of ten years, from 1994 to 2004. He is a graduate of Tbilisi State University with a doctors degree in Iranian studies. He was born in Tehran, Iran.
