James Silk Buckingham was a British mariner, parliamentarian, author, journalist and traveller. His achievements were varied and many. He contributed to Indian journalism and was a pioneer among the Europeans who fought for a liberal press in India. He was reforming parliamentarian in Britain and a prolific journalist and author.
