John Franklin Jameson was an American historian, author, and journal editor who played a major role in the professional activities of American historians in the early 20th century. He was on the faculty of Johns Hopkins University, Brown University and University of Chicago before serving as director of the Department of Historical Research of the Carnegie Institution of Washington from 1905 to 1928.
