Ion Ghica was a Romanian statesman, mathematician, diplomat, and politician, who served as Prime Minister of Romania five times. He was a full member of the Romanian Academy and its president on several occasions. He was the older brother and associate of Pantazi Ghica, a prolific writer and politician.
