Imhotep

Imhotep served as chancellor to King Djoser in the late 27th century BC and likely designed the Step Pyramid, the earliest colossal stone structure in Egypt. He also held the office of high priest of Ra at Heliopolis. Then the historical record goes silent: his name vanishes for twelve hundred years. When it resurfaces under Amenhotep III around 1370 BC, he's receiving libations like a demigod - regular ritual offerings once reserved for royalty. Slowly, over centuries, legends grew: tales of wisdom, feats for the king, and finally, by the fourth century BC, miraculous healing powers. He became one of fewer than a dozen commoners ever deified in Egypt, worshipped at temples in Memphis. His tomb has never been found.
