About this person
Ilana Yahav is a sand animation performance artist and puppeteer from Israel. She works under camera, manipulating sand on a lightbox to create fluid images that morph and dissolve in real time. Her performances have played out in front of live audiences, where the ephemeral art form - each scene erased to make the next - unfolds as both spectacle and narrative. The work has also appeared in video clips and advertisements, carrying the ancient medium of sand into commercial and artistic contexts alike.
