About this person

Born 21 December 1952, Hany Abdel Aziz Shaker made his first public appearance singing with Abd El Halim Hafez Choral Group in "Sora" - a sideman role that opened the door. His break as an actor came when he played the young Sayed Darwish in the biopic of the same name, lending his face to Egypt's most beloved composer. From there he pivoted fully to his own recordings, building a catalog that made him a fixture on Arab radio and television. He spent the next forty years as a singer and composer, his output steady, his name constant. Hany Shaker died 3 May 2026.
