Guilherme José de Melo was a Portuguese journalist, novelist and poet. Born in Lourenço Marques, Portuguese Mozambique, he began his journalistic career in Mozambique in the early 1950s and later moved to Portugal in 1974, where he worked for Diário de Notícias until his retirement.
