Claire Boucher grew up in Vancouver, moved to Montreal in 2006, and started putting music out on her own under the name Grimes. Two early albums on Arbutus Records in 2010 - Geidi Primes and Halfaxa - led to a deal with 4AD. Her third album, Visions, arrived in 2012 and broke through: it won the Juno for Electronic Album of the Year and gave her "Genesis" and "Oblivion". Three years later Art Angels landed, and publications across the board named it the best album of 2015. Miss Anthropocene followed in 2020. She's also voiced a character in Cyberpunk 2077 and judged the competition show Alter Ego.
