Gordian I was Roman emperor in AD 238 with his son Gordian II during the Year of the Six Emperors. Caught up in a rebellion against the Emperor Maximinus Thrax, he was defeated in battle and committed suicide after the death of his son. He had the second shortest reign in imperial history, reigning for only 22 days.
