Girey Alievich Bairov was a Crimean Tatar pediatric surgeon in the Soviet Union; he was one of the founders of pediatric surgery in Leningrad and later became head of the Department of Pediatric Surgery at the Leningrad/Saint Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University.
