American water polo player (1901–1988)
George Frederick Mitchell was an American swimmer and water polo player who competed for the University of California at Berkeley and was a member of the U.S. Water Polo team at the 1924 Summer Olympics in Paris and the 1928 Summer Olympics in Amsterdam. In 1924 he won the bronze medal with the American water polo team, playing all five matches. Four years later he was a member of the American Water Polo team which finished fifth in the 1928 Olympic water polo tournament. He played both matches.
