Prime Minister of Iceland (1925-1990)
Geir Hallgrímsson was the prime minister of Iceland for the Independence Party from 28 August 1974 to 1 September 1978. Before that he had been mayor of Reykjavík from 1959 to 1972. Geir was a member of the Icelandic parliament, the Althing from 1973 to 1983. He served as Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1983 to 1986 and as the Governor of the Central Bank from 1986 to his death in 1990.
