About this person
Pierre Garand was born in Sherbrooke, Québec on 26 June 1972 and took the stage name Garou, a shortening of his surname. The role of Quasimodo in Notre-Dame de Paris - which he played in both the original French and English casts - gave him the platform. From there came the hits: "Belle", "Seul", "Sous le vent", and "La Rivière de notre enfance" all reached No. 1. He records in French and English, straddling both worlds.
