Fredrik Bajer

Fredrik Bajer was born on 21 April 1837 in Denmark. He worked as a teacher and writer before turning to politics, where he championed pacifism at a time when Europe was threading toward the wars that would define the next century. In 1908 he shared the Nobel Peace Prize with Swedish politician Klas Pontus Arnoldson, recognition that placed him in the canon of organized peace advocacy. He continued his work until his death on 22 January 1922, three years after the Treaty of Versailles tried to settle the ruin he'd spent decades warning against.
