Frances Montresor Buchanan Allen Penniman was an American botanist and a figure in the American Revolution. She was remembered for her gardening skills and knowledge of botany. The specimens in the herbaria of Penniman and her daughter Adelia preserved at the University of Vermont's Pringle Herbarium are among the oldest representing plants of the state of Vermont.
