Frances Jennifer Adamson is an Australian diplomat and public servant who has served as the 36th governor of South Australia since 7 October 2021. Before assuming the vice-regal office, she had a long career in the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), including appointments as Australia's ambassador to China from 2011 to 2015 and secretary of DFAT from 2016 to 2021, becoming the first woman to serve in both positions.
