Born in Amiens in 1977, Macron studied philosophy at Paris Nanterre, earned a master's at Sciences Po, and graduated from the École nationale d'administration in 2004 before working at the General Inspectorate of Finance and later as an investment banker at Rothschild & Co. He joined President François Hollande's team as a senior adviser after the 2012 election, rising to Economics Minister in 2014, where he pushed business-friendly reforms before resigning in 2016 to found En Marche and mount a presidential bid.
