Ella Pamfilova

Ella Alexanderovna Pamfilova is a Russian politician serving as chair of Russia's Central Election Commission since March 2016. Previously she served as Russia's Commissioner for Human Rights from 2014 to 2016, and as Minister of Social Protection from 1991 to 1994. She also chaired the Presidential Council for Civil Society and Human Rights from 2004 to 2010, and was a deputy of the 1st and 2nd convocations of the State Duma. She ran as a candidate during the 2000 Russian presidential election, becoming the first female presidential candidate in Russian history, and received 1.01% of the vote.
