About this person
Edward Lawrence Logan was an American lawyer, judge, politician, and National Guard officer from South Boston, Massachusetts. Over a public career of more than four decades he combined three simultaneous vocations: he served on the Municipal Court for the South Boston District from 1907 until his death, as its presiding justice from 1914; he rose through the ranks of the Massachusetts militia from private to major general; and he became one of the most prominent veterans' advocates in New England after World War I. Logan International Airport in East Boston, named for him by the Massachusetts legislature in 1943, has carried his name for more than eighty years.
