Doug Northway

Douglas Dale Northway is an American former swimmer, who competed for the University of Washington and then the University of Arizona, and represented the United States at the 1972 Munich and 1976 Montreal Olympic Games. He won a bronze in the 1500-meter freestyle in the 1972 Olympics, and swam an Olympic and world record time in the preliminaries of the 4x200 freestyle relays at the 1976 Mexico City Olympics. His qualifying preliminary heat led the American Men's 4x200 freestyle relay team to a gold medal in the 1976 Olympic finals, though he did not swim with the final team. He was a world record holder in the 400-meter freestyle in April, 1976.
