Dorise Nielsen

Dorise Winifred Nielsen was a communist politician, feminist and teacher. She was the first member of the Communist Party of Canada to be elected to the House of Commons of Canada, serving in the House of Commons from 1940 to 1945. Later she moved to the People's Republic of China, where she lived for the final 23 years of her life until her death in 1980.
