About this person
Born in Mumbai in 1961, D'Souza came to the United States as an exchange student, graduated from Dartmouth, and worked as a policy adviser under Reagan before becoming a naturalized citizen in 1990. He led The King's College from 2010 to 2012, resigning after checking into a hotel with a woman he called his fiancée while both were still married to others. His 2012 film 2016: Obama's America, adapted from his book The Roots of Obama's Rage, launched a run of eight conspiracist documentaries through 2024, including Hillary's America, 2000 Mules, and Vindicating Trump. In 2014 he pleaded guilty to making an illegal campaign contribution through a straw donor, a felony for which Trump pardoned him four years later. His films and commentary remain flashpoints, drawing large viewership and persistent accusations of falsehood.
