He played for the Columbus Blue Jackets of the National Hockey League (NHL). Internationally, he played for the Czech Republic men's national team and won five World Championships, and a bronze medal in ice hockey at the 2006 Winter Olympics. He was inducted into the IIHF Hall of Fame in 2025.
