About this person
Daniel Stenberg grew up in Huddinge, south of Stockholm, and created the utility that would become cURL after several name and license changes. From 2013 to 2018 he worked at Mozilla, then joined wolfSSL in February 2019 to offer commercial support for cURL and work on it as close to full-time as possible. He's active in the Internet Engineering Task Force, sits on working groups for HTTP/2 and QUIC, and has contributed to several RFCs. In 2017 he received the Polhem Prize for the work - recognition for high-level technical innovation - and by April 2023 he'd joined the prize's own committee. In October 2025 the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences gave him their Gold Medal, citing his central role in internet infrastructure and the fact that cURL now enables secure data transfer across billions of devices worldwide.
