Kazuhito Kosaka was born on 17 July 1973 and built a career in Japanese comedy and television under the stage name Daimaou Kosaka, which translates to "Kosaka the Great Demon King". In 2016 he introduced Pikotaro as a separate personality he was promoting, though the two are the same person, and released "PPAP (Pen-Pineapple-Apple-Pen)" under that name. The track's absurdist brevity made it a worldwide phenomenon. By fall 2017, when Donald Trump visited Asia, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe reportedly requested Kosaka sing at the official state reception to keep the mood upbeat. He later returned to acting, portraying Muryou Hakataminami in the tokusatsu series Mashin Sentai Kiramager from 2020 to 2021.
