Conor Anthony McGregor was born 14 July 1988 and began fighting professionally in 2008, working through lightweight and featherweight in Ireland until he won both Cage Warriors titles in 2012. The UFC signed him in 2013, and two years later he knocked out José Aldo in 13 seconds at UFC 194 - the fastest finish in title fight history - to become undisputed Featherweight Champion. In 2016 he took the Lightweight belt by beating Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205, making him the first to hold two UFC championships simultaneously. He tried boxing in 2017, losing to Floyd Mayweather via 10th-round TKO in a fight that sold over 5.3 million pay-per-views, then returned to MMA and lost to Nurmagomedov by submission at UFC 229. By 2021 his reported earnings hit $180 million, fueled by liquor ventures and a stake in Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship, but legal trouble mounted - assault charges, driving offences, and in November 2024 an Irish High Court ruled in a civil case that he had assaulted and raped a woman in 2018, ordering him to pay over €248,000 in damages and roughly €1,500,000 in legal costs after he lost an appeal in July 2025.
