Chlodio

Chlodio led the Salian Franks out of their permitted settlements in Texandria and attacked Roman-inhabited lands near the modern Belgian-French border, taking Cambrai and Tournai while Aëtius commanded Roman forces in Gaul. His conquests reached as far south as the River Somme, extending Frankish rule well beyond the Rhine borderlands they had occupied for generations. The move marked a turning point: no longer confined to frontier zones, the Franks now held ground deep inside the empire.
