Charlotte McDonnell grew up in Bath and started vlogging as charlieissocoollike in the late 2000s, riding YouTube's first wave to become a defining voice of British online video. She crossed into music with the Doctor Who tribute band Chameleon Circuit and released a solo album, This Is Me, in 2010, before that project dissolved. Through the middle of the decade she directed short films and co-hosted the breakfast show Cereal Time alongside Jimmy Hill from 2015 to 2016, but by December 2018 she'd posted her last YouTube video and pivoted to screenwriting. Her first series, the science fiction drama Don't Look Deeper, landed on Quibi in July 2020. She now streams video games on Twitch, a different kind of audience in a different era.
