American politician (1903-1992)
Charles Franklin Brannan was the United States secretary of agriculture from 1948 to 1953. He was a liberal Democrat best known for proposing the "Brannan Plan", which was rejected by a conservative Congress and never took effect. Brannan was the last surviving member of Harry S. Truman's cabinet.
