King of West Francia from 879 to 884
A Carolingian king who inherited half a kingdom at thirteen, ruled it jointly with his brother for three years, then held the whole thing alone for two more before dying at eighteen.
Carloman II was born around 866, the second son of King Louis the Stammerer and Queen Ansgarde. In 879, he and his elder brother Louis III split West Francia between them and ruled as co-kings. When Louis III died in 882, Carloman took the entire kingdom for himself. His sole reign lasted two years. He died on 6 December 884.
