About this person
Brianna Ghey was lured into Culcheth Linear Park on 11 February 2023 by Scarlett Jenkinson, where she was fatally stabbed in an attack carried out by Jenkinson and Eddie Ratcliffe, both 15 at the time. The pair were arrested the following day and charged with murder. On 20 December 2023, Manchester Crown Court convicted both defendants, concluding the killing was driven primarily by sadistic motivation, with transphobia a secondary motive for Ratcliffe. They were sentenced on 2 February 2024 to detention at His Majesty's pleasure - Jenkinson for a minimum of 22 years, Ratcliffe for 20 - before parole eligibility.
