Bijoy Krishna Handique

Bijoy Krishna Handique was an Indian statesman, author and social worker who served as Union Minister of Development of North Eastern Region and Union Minister of Mines from 2009 to 2011. He previously held various junior ministerial positions in the union government from 2004 to 2009. A member of the Indian National Congress (INC), Handique was a Member of the Rajya Sabha from 1980 to 1986, and a six-term Member of the Lok Sabha for Jorhat from 1991 to 2014. He represented Jorhat in Assam Legislative Assembly from 1972 to 1978.
