He formerly served as the Predators' general manager. As a coach, Trotz served as head coach of the Predators, Washington Capitals, and New York Islanders. Trotz is known for his defensive-minded coaching style and is currently ranked fourth all-time in NHL coaching wins, behind only Scotty Bowman, Joel Quenneville & Paul Maurice.
