About this person

Zaheer-ud-din Babar Awan built a career straddling law and politics in Pakistan. He served as Federal Law Minister in Yousaf Raza Gillani's cabinet, then as a Senator for Punjab Province from 2012 to 2017. He joined PTI and sat on its Executive Council before returning to government as Adviser to the Prime Minister for Parliamentary Affairs from April 2020 to April 2022. Alongside the political posts, he writes regularly - political columns for the Urdu newspaper Daily Jang, longer works on left-wing philosophy, all arguing for social democracy.
