German politician (1905-1973)
Anton Ackermann was a German communist politician who was a leading functionary of the Communist Party of Germany (KPD) and the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED). He served as the first director of the Institute for Economic Research, East Germany's foreign intelligence service, from 1951 to 1952, and briefly acted as Minister of Foreign Affairs in 1953.
