Angelo Masini was a famous Italian tenor of international renown. Throughout his career, he sang at the principal theatres of Italy, Spain, and especially Russia, where he sang for over 20 years. Famous composer Giuseppe Verdi was an ardent admirer of Masini, claiming: "his voice is the most Divine I've ever heard. It sounds as if it is made of pure velvet", and also went on to hail him as "the tenor from Paradise".
